My Story.
I'm Kynthia, the founder of Own Your Ground. I'm an experienced soccer coach and personal trainer with more than eight years of experience supporting girls and women through school programs, community initiatives, council programs, sporting clubs and one-to-one coaching through Kynthfit.
Growing up playing soccer, I experienced the disparity between girls' and boys' sport firsthand. We often trained with poorer equipment, less experienced coaching and grounds that did not receive the same investment as the boys'. I created Own Your Ground because girls deserve equal access to quality coaching, facilities, development and opportunity.
I also developed an eating disorder during high school while navigating intense pressures around appearance, body image and social media. Soccer and strength training became powerful parts of rebuilding my confidence, discipline and relationship with my body — not because of how my body looked, but because of what it could do.
Those experiences shaped the program I wish I had during adolescence. Own Your Ground gives girls more than sport alone by combining quality coaching with the knowledge, confidence and supportive conversations they can carry into life. I want every girl to have the opportunity to build a strong body, find her voice and discover what she is capable of.
“90% of young Australians surveyed reported some level of concern about their body image, and 57% said social media made them feel dissatisfied with their bodies.”
